(WLS) -- Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has been arrested in his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., following an altercation over a taxi fare. Kane and his 21-year-old cousin, James, were taken into custody at approximately 5 a.m. Sunday after allegedly punching a cab driver in the face and taking back the $15 they gave him when the driver did not have 20 cents in change.
According to the police report, the cab driver suffered cuts to his face and broken glasses. Details of the incident and the charges Kane is currently facing are spelled out in the News Release from Buffalo Police below.
"We got there, and he goes to open the door. I said, 'You've got to pay me first," and he said, 'I've got to get out and reach for my wallet.' All those college kids, they run out without paying. So, I said, 'No, you pay me first, and we'll get it squared away,'" said the cab driver allegedly assaulted who identified himself as J. R. "The guys said, 'Do you know who I am?' I said, 'I don't know who you are, just pay.' So, one guy pays, and the other guy grabs me by the throat, Patrick Kane. He turned out to be a hockey player. I don't know who they are."
It always hurts when the police don't know who you are. But I guess hockey players are tough enough to deal with it.
