Do You Know Who I Am? - Allen Iverson

Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) -- Former NBA star Allen Iverson launched an expletive-ridden tirade against police when a car belonging to him was pulled over for a traffic violation last week, at one point telling the officer, "Take the vehicle, I have 10 more," according to a police report.

Iverson became "irate," according to the police report, saying, "I'm the (expletive) passenger." The officer radioed for backup, and a second unit arrived, according to the report. Antwuan Clisby (the driver) and Iverson were asked to exit the vehicle, while Iverson continued to curse at the officer, the report said.

"Take the vehicle, I have 10 more," Iverson said, according to the report. "Police don't have anything else (expletive) to do except (expletive) with me." He then asked, "Do you know who I am?"

The officer wrote in his report that "For the next 20 minutes, Mr. Iverson went on and on about who he was. I stated to Mr. Iverson, 'It really doesn't matter who you are."

More from Iverson that didn't make it to CNN ... "We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about a violation. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about a violation, not a misdemeanor, not a misdemeanor, not a misdemeanor, but we're talking about a violation. How silly is that? Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about a violation. We're talking about a violation man. We're talking about a violation. We're talking about a violation. We're not talking about a misdemeanor. We're talking about a violation."

The coach for Besiktas Cola Turka, Iverson's current team, was not available for comment.

Do You Know Who I Am? - Legedu Naanee

This Photo Released By Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Shows San Diego Union -Tribune:  Chargers wide receiverLegedu Naanee was arrested in Indianapolis early Saturday and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, a run-in that likely sealed his fate with the team that drafted him in 2007.
According to police, Naanee came across an active crime scene at about 3:20 a.m. and was told he would have to turn around or go in another direction. Naanee, who according to police had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on or about his breath or person,” asked the officer why he was being “such an (expletive).”
The police officer said after several attempts to get Naanee to leave the scene failed, he told Naanee he was under arrest. Naanee “actively began to pull away” and the officer used pepper spray but Naanee continued to resist.
Eventually he was handcuffed and as he was being walked to the police car, Naanee said, according to police, “Do you know who I am? I am an NFL player and I’m going to sue your ass.

An unfortunate triple-whammy for Legedu Naanee.  His WIA resulted in being arrested, pepper sprayed, and likely cut from his team.  Without a job, I'm not sure many people will know who he is.

Do You Know Who I Am? - Miguel Cabrera

Miguel Cabrera (MUG SHOT): Tigers Slugger Arrested for DUI(CBS/AP) Miguel Cabrera was arrested in Florida on suspicion of drunk driving, and police have released a mug shot featuring a smiling Cabrera.
According to the police, a St. Lucie County sheriff's deputy arrested the 27-year-old Wednesday night shortly after 11:00 p.m. Cabrera's car was on the side of the road with smoke coming from the engine of his vehicle.
Police said the Tigers slugger smelled of alcohol, was slurring his speech and took a swig from a bottle of Scotch in front of a deputy. According to the report, Cabrera's attitude was cocky, combative, argumentative and belligerent. His eyes were said to be bloodshot, watery and glassy and his face was flushed.
Police said Cabrera repeatedly refused to cooperate, saying, "Do you know who I am? You don't know anything about my problems."

"Cocky, combative, argumentative and belligerent."  I can't think of four better words to kick-off this blog with.  They really say it all.  What better way to be when interacting with someone who is about to throw you in jail.  And yet, WIA is still a the top of the list as a go-to line.

Do You Know Who I Am? - Patrick Kane

Patrick Kane: File Photo Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has been arrested in his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., following an altercation over a taxi fare.
Kane and his 21-year-old cousin, James, were taken into custody at approximately 5 a.m. Sunday after allegedly punching a cab driver in the face and taking back the $15 they gave him when the driver did not have 20 cents in change.
According to the police report, the cab driver suffered cuts to his face and broken glasses. Details of the incident and the charges Kane is currently facing are spelled out in the News Release from Buffalo Police below.
"We got there, and he goes to open the door. I said, 'You've got to pay me first," and he said, 'I've got to get out and reach for my wallet.' All those college kids, they run out without paying. So, I said, 'No, you pay me first, and we'll get it squared away,'" said the cab driver allegedly assaulted who identified himself as J. R. "The guys said, 'Do you know who I am?' I said, 'I don't know who you are, just pay.' So, one guy pays, and the other guy grabs me by the throat, Patrick Kane. He turned out to be a hockey player. I don't know who they are."

It always hurts when the police don't know who you are.  But I guess hockey players are tough enough to deal with it.

Do You Know Who I Am? - N.O.R.E.

Rapper arrested after fight at Fatburger
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Rapper N.O.R.E. was arrested following a fight with a customer at a Miami Beach hamburger restaurant, police said. The 31-year-old performer was formerly known as Noreaga. His real name is Victor Santiago and he is known for songs "Nothin'" and "SuperThug."

Santiago, of New York, was arrested early Sunday after police said he caused a disruption at a Fatburger by yelling at another customer, ripping up a bouquet of flowers and throwing a drink at a customer.

Authorities said the rapper punched a man in the face, and yelled "Do you know who I am?" The man received a cut on the left side of his face, a police report said.

SuperThug indeed.  I miss the days when one man give another man a bouquet of flowers at a Fatburger in peace.

Do You Know Who I Am? - Tatum O'Neal

The former child star had publicly claimed to have conquered her addictions to drugs and alcohol.
When held, she initially told New York police she was merely preparing for an acting role, adding: 'You know who I am, right? I'm researching a part  -  I'm doing this for a part.'

Genius.  Sheer genius.  And I expect nothing less from Amanda Whurlitzer.  Pulling the WIA, and following it up with research.  How else does an actress know what it's like to buy crack cocaine?

Do You Know Who I Am? - Montel Williams

Image: Montel WilliamsA thoughtful query caused Montel Williams to cancel an interview and later threaten the high school newspaper intern who asked the question, reports the Associated Press .
"I'm trying to figure out exactly why you are here and what the interview is about,” Montel snapped at Savannah Morning-News intern Courtney Scott.
The talk show host, in town to promote a free prescription drug program for low-income patients, ended the press event after Courtney asked if he thought that pharmaceutical companies would be discouraged from research and development if profits were restricted.
“I'm here as a patient advocate talking about the fact that medications available today are saving people's lives, that's what's saving mine and after that, this interview is done," the multiple sclerosis-afflicted Montel said before storming out.
Later, Montel confronted Courtney and crew at his hotel, while they were covering another story.
“As we were preparing to film, Montel walked up with his bodyguard and got in Courtney Scott's face pointing his finger telling her ‘Don't look at me like that. Do you know who I am? I'm a big star, and I can look you up, find where you live and blow you up’,” said Joseph Cosey, a Web content producer for the newspaper. “At this time he was randomly pointing at all of us.”

A real classic WIA right here.  While not used in a law-enforcement situation, Montel really knocked it out of the park with the whole "find where you live and blow you up" angle.  If we didn't know who you were then, we do now, Montel.
